International Regulatory

Clear guidance for confident international shipping.

International courier and freight shipments are subject to origin, transit, destination, carrier, and transport-mode rules. A shipment may need a different clearance path depending on its contents and purpose.

Courier or freight?

Documents and eligible parcels may travel through a courier process. Larger, commercial, controlled, or unusual shipments may need a freight or formal customs process. Eligibility is not determined by weight alone; the team must check the current rules and carrier requirements for the route.

What to prepare for review

  • Complete sender and recipient identity and address details.
  • Accurate item descriptions, quantities, declared values, country of origin, and applicable classification codes.
  • Each package's dimensions, gross weight, and a packing list that matches the physical contents.
  • Invoices, permits, certificates, safety information, or other documents relevant to the goods and destination.

Restricted goods and transport safety

Medicines, food, batteries, chemicals, and other regulated products may require permission, specialist packing, or an approved carrier. Dangerous goods must be declared and reviewed before handover. An item accepted on one route may be refused on another.

Duties, taxes, and additional charges

Import duties, taxes, clearance fees, and special-handling charges depend on the goods, destination, service, and agreed payer. A public courier estimate is not a customs assessment or a guarantee of final landed cost.

This page is general guidance, not legal or customs advice. Do not rely on fixed value, weight, or fee thresholds from another carrier's website. Confirm the current official rules and obtain shipment-specific approval before dispatch.

For India-origin or India-destination courier movements, consult the CBIC courier regulations and DGFT trade-policy information. For air dangerous goods, refer to the ICAO Technical Instructions.
