Packaging Guides
Practical guidance to help you choose and prepare the right shipment.

Good packaging protects the contents and gives the carrier accurate measurements for pricing and handling.
Measure and weigh each package
- Measure the outside length, width, and height after the package is sealed.
- Weigh the packed carton or envelope, including cushioning and the outer packaging.
- Calculate volumetric weight and compare it with actual weight; carriers generally use the greater value as chargeable weight.
Protect the contents
- Choose a sturdy carton or suitable document envelope for the item type.
- Wrap fragile items separately, fill empty space, and keep contents away from carton edges.
- Seal seams securely and leave a clean, flat area for the shipping label.
- Check restricted-item and special-handling rules before packing liquids, batteries, food, medicine, or other regulated goods.
Packaging rules and accepted materials differ by carrier and destination. Check the chosen service before dispatch.
